Nepa AB (publ): P-O Westerlund utsedd till ny VD och koncernchef

Styrelsen i Nepa AB (publ) har beslutat att utse P-O Westerlund till ny VD och koncernchef för Nepa – tillträder rollen omgående.

Nepa AB (publ): P-O Westerlund appointed new CEO

The board of directors has appointed P-O Westerlund CEO of Nepa AB (publ). The appointment is effective immediately.  
 
Chairman of the Board, Ulrich Boyer commented: “The company needs transformation and change. It needs a sales strategy aimed at a more focused offer to unlock the potential in our core offering and our underlying technical platform.  We also need a clear focus on sound finances through cost control, efficiency and risk management. In P-O Westerlund we have a skilled leader to deliver what we need, now.” 
 
P-O Westerlund, Nepa’s new CEO commented: “I look forward to implementing our new strategy to quickly reach profitability. Nepa has a fantastic offering, a client roster our competitors envy, amazing colleagues with great drive and fantastic potential, and a solid and sophisticated technical platform to build on. P-O has worked at Nepa since 2009, the first six years responsible for international sales and expansion and, since 2015, as Nepa’s Chief Financial Officer. His earlier experience includes group management of the turn-around of a public company as well as CEO and Chairman, respectively, of two analytics companies.  
 
Fredrik Östgren, former CEO, will leave the company with immediate effect. Ulrich Boyer thanks Fredrik on behalf of the Board for his 14 years of tireless dedication to Nepa.

Nepa AB (publ): MARGINAL GROSS PROFIT GROWTH IN THIRD QUARTER

THIRD QUARTER, JULY – SEPTEMBER 2019

  • Net sales decreased by 1.1% to MSEK 55.4 (56.0)
  • Gross profit increased by 1.0% to MSEK 41.6 (41.2)
  • EBIT was MSEK -13.9 (-3.4)
  • Earnings after tax was MSEK -12.7 (-3.6)
  • Earnings per share was, basic SEK -1.61 (-0.51), diluted SEK -1.61 (-0.50)
  • Impact of restructuring in the USA impacted EBIT by MSEK -2.0 in the third quarter and is expected to give annual cost savings om MSEK 13.0.

NINE MONTHS, JANUARY – SEPTEMBER 2019

  • Net sales increased by 7.9% to MSEK 192.5 (178.5)
  • Gross profit increased by 11.5% to MSEK 148.0 (132.7)
  • EBIT amounted to MSEK -17.6 (-9.6)
  • Earnings after tax amounted to MSEK -16.7 (-11.0)
  • Earnings per share amounted to, basic SEK -2.12 (-1.54), diluted SEK -2.12 (-1.51)

IMPORTANT EVENTS

DURING THE PERIOD      

  • Marie Audier D’Alessandris, formerly Global Chief of Marketing and e-Commerce for Coach and senior marketing leader at L’Oréal started as an advisor to the board of Nepa.
  • We restructured the US business and appointed Erik Enecker as Managing Director of subsidiary Nepa USA Inc. We also incurred cost reductions within sales and marketing in the US with expected annual savings of MSEK 13.0.

AFTER THE PERIOD ENDED

  • The Norwegian operations will be combined with the Swedish organisation, leading to cost efficiencies and annual cost reductions of MSEK 2.8 from January 1, 2020. We will continue to service our Norwegian clients with Nepa’s traditional high standards.
  • Global marketing department moves from the US to Sweden.

A WORD FROM OUR CEO

Our key target, gross profit, was in the third quarter MSEK 41.6, an increase of 1.0 percent compared to the third quarter of 2018. In the same period EBIT was MSEK -13.9 (-3.4). Our performance in Q3 was substantially weaker than expected.

The low growth is due to weak sales in the US and lower than expected project-based revenues in the Nordic market, in which our gross profit has been flat. In the UK our growth rate was 12% which was lower than our expectations.

With lower sales we have worked with improving our sales strategy and have also started to implement a cost reduction program:

  • In September we began a restructuring of our US sales company Nepa USA. Erik Enecker was promoted to Managing Director. We have adapted the sales organization after making the decision that the US will become profitable in 2020 and to reduce the sole focus on revenue growth. As a consequence of this we are moving our global marketing function from the US to Sweden. Expected cost reductions in 2020 compared to 2019 amount to approximately MSEK 13.0. The one-time costs in the period was MSEK 2.0.

 

  • In November we decided to manage our Norwegian operations from Sweden. The action is expected to result in an annual cost saving of MSEK 2.8 from year 2020, with unchanged revenues and maintaining our high standards of client service.

We are currently working on finalizing our strategy for the period 2020-2024, aiming at making Nepa profitable in 2020. We intend to present the strategy in the upcoming full-year report.

We are pleased to see that sales in the fourth quarter are strengthening, especially for our subscription-based revenues. We expect growth in the fourth quarter and a favorable position to start next year.

VÄSENTLIGA HÄNDELSER

UNDER PERIODEN                                           

  • Marie Audier D’Alessandris, tidigare global marknadsdirektör och ansvarig för e-handel på Coach samt ledande befattningshavare inom L’Oréal, utsågs som rådgivare till Nepas styrelse.
  • Omstrukturering av den amerikanska försäljnings- och marknadsorganisationen förväntas leda till årlig kostnadsreduktion om 13,0 MSEK. Erik Enecker utsågs till ny VD för dotterbolaget Nepa USA Inc.

EFTER PERIODEN

  • Nepas norska verksamhet kommer att kombineras med den svenska verksamheten, vilket beräknas leda till högre kostnadseffektivitet med en årlig kostnadsbesparing om 2,8 MSEK från och med år 2020. Vi kommer att fortsätta att leverera till våra norska kunder i enlighet med Nepas traditionellt höga standard.

VD HAR ORDET

Vårt viktigaste omsättningstal, bruttovinsten, uppgick i det tredje kvartalet till 41,6 miljoner kronor, vilket är en ökning om 1,0 procent jämfört med tredje kvartalet 2018. Under samma period uppgick rörelseresultatet till -13,9 (-3,4) miljoner. Vår prestation under det tredje kvartalet är väsentligt sämre än förväntat.

Den låga tillväxten förklaras av svag försäljning i USA och en sämre försäljning av projektbaserade uppdrag på den nordiska marknaden, där vår bruttovinst under perioden har stått still. Tillväxten i Storbritannien var 12 procent, vilket var lägre än förväntat.

Med anledning av lägre försäljning har vi arbetat med att förbättra vår försäljningsstrategi och parallellt med detta har vi inlett ett kostnadsbesparingsprogram:

  • I september inleddes en omorganisation av vårt försäljningsbolag i USA. Erik Enecker blev befordrad till Managing Director för Nepa USA. Vi har genomfört en anpassning av försäljningorgani­sationen baserat på ett beslut om att USA ska vara lönsamt år 2020 och därmed skiftat fokus från målet om enbart omsättningstillväxt. Som en konsekvens av detta har vi beslutat att flytta vår marknads­avdelning från USA till Sverige. Den totala kostnadsbesparingen under 2020 jämfört med 2019 förväntas uppgå till cirka 13,0 MSEK. Engångskostnaderna för omorganisationen av Nepa USA uppgick under perioden till 2,0 MSEK.
  • Under november tog vi beslut om att driva vår norska verksamhet med ledning från Sverige. Detta förväntas resultera i en årlig kostnadsbesparing om 2,8 MSEK från och med år 2020, med bibehållen intäktsnivå och samma höga kvalitet i kundleveranser.

Vi arbetar nu med att färdigställa vår strategi för perioden 2020-2024, syftande till att ta Nepa till lönsamhet under nästkommande år. Vi avser att presentera strategin i kommande bokslutskommuniké.

Vi kan glädjande konstatera att försäljningen under inledningen av fjärde kvartalet har varit god, i synnerhet för våra abonnemangsbaserade tjänster. Vi förväntar oss tillväxt under fjärde kvartalet och en gynnsam position inför nästkommande år.

Nepa AB (publ): Nepa Appoints Mangold as Liquidity Provider

Nepa AB (publ) has appointed Mangold Fondkommission as liquidity provider for the Company’s shares. A liquidity provider’s aim is to improve the liquidity of a share and reduce the spread between the bidding and asking price. The assignment commences on October 15, 2019.

Mangold will fulfill its assignment as liquidity provider to ensure the possibility of trading in Nepa’s share every day by continuously placing trading records on each purchase and sales page in the order book. A liquidity provider aims to create a more accurate pricing of a company’s share, which in turn gives a more accurate valuation of the company and allows for an improved trading volume in the share.

Nepa AB (publ): Nepa utser Mangold till likviditetsgarant

Nepa AB (publ) har utsett Mangold Fondkommission AB (Mangold) till likviditetsgarant för Nepas aktie. Syftet med likviditetsgarantin är att förbättra likviditeten i aktien och minska skillnaden mellan köp- och säljkurs. Uppdraget påbörjas den 15 oktober 2019.

Mangold kommer i sitt uppdrag som likviditetsgarant att säkerställa möjligheten att handla i Nepas aktie varje dag genom att kontinuerligt ställa handelsposter på vardera köp- och säljsida i orderboken.
